Lydia Kingery is a costume designer and maker originally from Nebraska USA, currently based in London. Lydia is graduating this year from Wimbledon College of Arts with a BA(Hons) in Costume for Theatre and Screen. She has an established interest in historical costuming and corsetry and has dedicated a considerable amount of her design portfolio to researching and experimenting with embellishment styles. Her most recent piece for the National Trust’s Dress to Impress exhibition at Polesden Lacey included a hand smocked bodice in a honeycomb design, each stitch embellished with a glass bead to create a shimmering effect. Lydia also has a keen interest in textile breakdown, having experimented with it at university whilst researching and discussing the impact of costuming in post-apocalyptic world building for her dissertation.
